Faith in Action Starts Here

Every Sunday, someone walks through our doors carrying more than they can hold alone. Volunteers are often the first hands that help them put it down.

David R.’s Outreach Story

The first time I went out with the outreach team, I remember feeling nervous — like, what do I even say to someone I’ve never met? But we weren’t there to have all the answers. We were just there to show up.

We spent that Saturday handing out meals and just talking with people in the park near downtown. One man told me it was the first real conversation he’d had in weeks. Not a transaction, not someone rushing past him — just a conversation. I didn’t do anything dramatic. I just sat down and listened.

That’s when it clicked for me: outreach isn’t about fixing people’s problems. It’s about reminding them they’re seen. And somewhere along the way, it started reminding me of the same thing.

Now I go out every other Saturday. Some days are hard — you see real need, real pain, and you can’t solve it all. But I’ve never once left feeling like it didn’t matter. If you’ve got a few hours and a willingness to just be present with people, this team needs you.
